MWD - While we are on the general subject, at one point you suggested a tablespoon of chia seed a day for its structured water benefits. I started mixing it in my breakfast yogurt and berries. Since then I have found that toilet paper stays largely or completely clean.

My theory is that the chia gel somehow supplements the normal mucus coating of the lower bowel and therefore the stool. The smooth coating leads to easy, clean transit.

Were I inclined to wilder theorizing, I'd posit that a healthy mucus coating likely keeps bowel contents from destructive contact with the large bowel, forestalling cancers.
